Natural Pregnancy After Secondary Infertility and PCOS Diagnosis

My husband and I were married in 2013 and we knew that we wanted children soon. In February 2014 we found out we were pregnant after just one month of trying to conceive. Shortly before Mason turned 2, we decided we wanted to try to conceive our second child. We thought it wouldn’t take us long to conceive because we didn’t have any trouble conceiving our first child. We were VERY wrong.

After 6 months of trying naturally, my OBGYN wanted to do a ultrasound to see what was going on. At that time she told me that I had PCOS. I started medication and tried that for 6 months with no success. She then referred us to a fertility specialist. That doctor changed our medication and when that didn’t work he wanted us to try IUI. We had 6 failed IUIs (3 of which included injections).

After the second failed IUI, my husband and I pursued the foster to adopt route. We thought that maybe this is what God intended for us? We hit obstacle after obstacle. Agencies were refusing to help us because we have a pond across the street and they said the state would not approve our license due to safety concerns.

Meanwhile, we had a doctor appointment that caught us off guard. The doctor told us our only option was IVF. I did not feel peace about IVF for some reason. It would be very costly and my husband and I didn’t want to take away from our son for something that wasn’t guaranteed. So in April 2018 we said we would discontinue any medication and stop all procedures. God came through for us immediately after that in the biggest way possible. We found out in May that we naturally conceived our son! Weston was born 3 weeks early on December 28, 2018.

What doctors couldn’t, God DID! The Moms in the Making group has been such an amazing support. I have formed lifelong friendships by attending the local group meetings and our leader, Hannah, goes above and beyond for each member of the group. I also have 2 prayer partners and we talk almost daily. I can’t thank God enough for what he’s given my family.
